No one has the money of billionaire Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and the richest man in the world.

But he has shared something valuable with us in recent weeks — how to have an apparently amicable divorce.

Bezos and his wife of 25 years, Mackenzie, recently came to a settlement in their divorce that will give Mrs. Bezos a percentage of company stock worth an estimated $35 billion. She gave him voting control of his shares so that he could continue the vision the couple shared as they built it together.

After the settlement was finalized, they each took to social media with comments about the other. They have four children who undoubtedly were happy to see their parents be supportive of each other.

“In all our work together, Mackenzie’s abilities have been on full display. She has been an extraordinary partner, ally, and mother,” Jeff Bezos posted.

Mackenzie Bezos responded with one of her own:

“Grateful to have finished the process of dissolving my marriage with Jeff. … Happy to be giving him all my interests in the Washington Post and Blue Origin, and 75% of our Amazon stock plus voting control of my shares to support his continued contributions with the teams of these incredible companies.”

Ending a 25-year marriage comes with pain and a gamut of emotions, but it appears the Bezoses have managed to divorce as friends who can continue to co-parent together.

And no matter how much money anyone has, that should be a goal of divorce: to avoid ugly fights that play out in court and affect family relationships down the road.

Of course, we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, but the Bezoses appear to have divorced with dignity. That’s an example we all can follow, and an experienced divorce attorney can help you to achieve the same.
